Workshop: Finance for Start-ups & Founders

In this workshop, we aim to provide less theory and more practical answers. The best part of the workshop? The strategic section at the end. Here, we’ll focus on how, as a budding founder, you can build a solid foundation from day one – a foundation that will later open up real opportunities. In other words, the path to funding, investors, and perhaps even the eventual sale of the business. Because that’s what’s missing from most introductory workshops: how to handle and build that foundation. That’s why founders later stumble at points where they shouldn’t have to.

In this workshop we will guide participants through the following points:

• What the first 12 months really cost (living expenses, business costs, tax reserves)
• Business models and how they impact your personal life
• Legal structure and taxes
• Funding opportunities
• Which data and structures matter from day one so that funders and investors will even consider talking to you later
• When external capital makes sense and when it takes more than it gives
• Real-world relevance and concrete examples

The whole session is interactive and not just based on slides or presentations. This way, by the end, you’ll have a rough idea of where your own figures stand and what needs to be done next week.

Speaker: Valerii Shpiklirnyi – EdTech founder (Lumenarch AI), a member of the organising team for ‘Start-up in School’ and an active member of YFN. He has been involved in several projects across four start-up initiatives throughout Germany and provides practical training in entrepreneurial skills and the development of start-ups.
